Atlanta Adds Nigel Dawes

The Atlanta Thrashers have continued to build their roster by adding Nigel Dawes on a one year two-way deal. Dawes spent last season in Calgary tallying 32 points (14-18) and a +1 rating in 66 games. Had he played in almost all 82 games he could have perhaps hit 40 points on a team that lacked offensive spark.

Known for his speed and finishing ability, Dawes has racked up excellent numbers in the AHL proving he is capable when playing in the right situation. In Atlanta we could see him on a 3rd line with Rich Peverley who scored 55 points last year and Fredrik Modin. With Modin opening up some room, this line could do a lot of damage if Peverley keeps his scoring pace up.

I don't anticipate seeing Dawes in the minors for long if at all, and could honestly become an important part of Atlanta's bottom six as the Thrashers attempt to get back into playoff hockey this upcoming spring.
