Kings Add Hunter
General manager of the Los Angelis Kings, Dean Lombardi, has announced the signing of veteran forward Trent Hunter to a one year deal. The deal is worth $600,000 according to CapGeek.com.
Hunter was offered a try-out by the Kings on September, 14th. Just 16 days later he has a contract. Through 4 pre-season games with the Kings, Hunter has tallied two assists.
Hunter appeared in only 17 regular season games with the Islanders last year after he sustained an injury to his left knee which required surgery. The 31 year old played all eight of his NHL seasons with the New York Islanders, showing up for 459 NHL games and posting 99 goals and 229 points with a -1 rating.
Trent Hunter may have ended his tenure with the Islanders in a bad way, but he definitely looks to turn things around with this promising up-start Kings club.
Hunter has only appeared in 14 post season games in his career, but judging by the looks of his new teammates, he is likely to expand his post season experience with a great chance at lifting Lord Stanley’s Cup.
Hunter provides experience and poise as a checking line winger. His 6’3 210lbs. frame offers the Kings more size and veteran presence, and he will be a welcome addition to a rising team. Like the Hunter signing, the Kings also had a successful try-out work well as they locked up veteran forward Ethan Moreau in the off-season. The two veterans give the Kings more viable options as they dig toward the grand finale.
