NHL Scoreboard - Recap - Boxscore - Highlights

Minnesota  1

Carolina     2SO

Carolina went two for two in Helsinki as 18 year-old rookie sensation Jeff Skinner netted the only goal in the first shooutout of the season. Cam Ward stood on his head once again as he stopped 41 of 42 shots for a great start to the season for himself and his team.

San Jose   3

Columbus 2

Rookie Logan Couture scored the game winning goal in his NHL debut in a highly contested game between the Sharks and the Blue Jackets. Niemi got the nod in net, and stopped 30 of 32 and even picked up an assist.

Dallas          3

New Jersey 4OT

In one of the best games of the night Loui Eriksson had Broduer's number as he netted two, including the overtime winner in Dallas. New Jersey's top two lines looked really solid, but it wasn't enough for the up-tempo forechecking style Dallas presented them with.

Anaheim  0

Detroit    4

Detroit dominated the Ducks in their season opener at the Joe. Mike Madano scored his first goal as a Red Wing and Pavel Datsyuk recorded a 'Gordie Howe Hat Trick' as he scored, assisted, and held his own in a surprise fight with Cory Perry. The Ducks tried to make the game as chippy as possible, but Howard was unfazed as he started out strong with a shutout.

Buffalo   2

Ottawa  1

It was Pascal Leclaire vs Ryan Miller as both goaltenders played strong. Leclaire stopped 34 of 36 while Miller stopped 24 of 25. Derek Roy had a great game as his tenacity around the net was good enough for both of Buffalo's goals.

Washington 2

Atlanta        4

Ondrej Pavelec mysteriously collapsed just over two minutes into the game and was rushed to the hospital. He is now in stable condition with signs of concussion. Chris Mason stepped in and the Thrashers were able to maintain focus as they held off the powerful Caps for the victory. Evander Kane highlighted the night scoring two goals; one on a penalty shot, and the other being the game winner. Read LTL Article Here.
